About Us

The idea of creating Freedom Elephant Reserve started back in 2017, when, on a visit to Thailand, we saw that 50 – 60 tourists were huddled around 5 elephants, screaming, shouting, and throwing mud at them. While the elephants didn’t seem too bothered, we thought that there must be a better way to help conserve the species and ensure its survival.

So, we set off on a long and arduous journey, filled with setback after setback until we finally found ourselves in a position to start sourcing land and elephants for our reserve. And then, COVID happened, and all the changes that came with it once again set us back just as we were finally in a position to put our vision into a reality.

Now, three years after the end of COVID and the return of tourism to Thailand, we are finally able to say our vision, our dream, has finally come to fruition, and we have finally been able to rescue our first elephant.

Hopefully, with your support. We will be able to rescue more elephants in need and provide them with a loving and caring home, supported by people who have a passion for animal conservation.
